#HealthITChicks tweetchats definitely picked up steam last year in terms of attendees and rapid-fire discussion of some very compelling topics. Here is a look back at the top tweetchats and Spotlight Interviews of 2016. Look for a tentative list of 2017 guest hosts at the end of the post. Happy New Year!
The #HealthITChicks Spotlight Shined On …
Healthcare IT recruiting firm Greythorn (now known as Pivot Point Consulting) offered networking and job-seeking advice for those heading to HIMSS. The company has been a big supporter of the #healthITchicks community over the last year. Oliver Wyman Health & Life Sciences Partner Sukanya Soderland believes there is more we can do to develop female C-suite talent. “One of the best ways is through one-on-one interactions where senior women can get to know more junior women,” she explains. “These relationships can provide benefits to both. It can be gratifying and fulfilling to see the blood, sweat, and tears that you put in make a difference for someone else’s opportunities.”
The team at HealthITJobs.com offered advice on networking etiquette, follow-up actions, email, and the best way to transition from networking meetings on the show floor to legitimate offers in the run up to HIMSS.
Health Level 7 International Director of Marketing Melanie Hilliard isn’t sold on the idea that women in health IT are where we need to be when it comes to mentoring and encouraging our female colleagues. “I still hear women say they don’t want to work for other women,” Melanie says. “Sometimes I want to shout, ‘I am my sister’s keeper!’ We are all our sister’s keeper (that includes you male allies!), who should always have time to help lift up co-workers and colleagues.”
