Meet the Women Making Waves in Mental Health Tech

This year’s #healthITchicks meetup at HIMSS will feature a panel discussion on the role women play in the evolving world of mental health technology. As increasing focus is placed on the integration of mental health and primary care, we’ll hear from women developing, prescribing, using, and offering mental health technologies.

Meet our panelists:

zereana

Zereana Jess-Huff (@DrZVO) is Zereana Jess-Huff is the VP of behavioral health at American Well. Prior to her time at American Well, she served as the CEO for Beacon Health Options, managing Maryland Medicaid for behavioral health. Zereana is an Ovarian Cancer survivor, a former Mrs. Maryland America, and is a national advocate for women’s health and also holds a doctorate in counseling psychology.

Christine Moberg (@camoberg1) is head of psychology at Pacifica, a mental health tech startup that has developed an app based on cognitive behavioral therapy and meditation to help users manage stress and anxiety. She completed her postdoc at the Stanford Univ dept of psychiatry and behavioral sciences before working as a psychologist for the VA.

Geeta Nayyar, MD (@gnayyar) is, aside from a HIMSS Social Media Ambassador, chief healthcare and innovation officer at Femwell Group Health, a practice management company in South Florida, and assistant clinical professor of medicine at Florida International University. She has also held CMIO roles with PatientPoint and AT&T.

Cindy Throop (@cindythroop) is a health IT research and policy analyst at RTI International, where she researches patient-centered health IT tools and provides technical assistance to providers interested in consumer engagement within the context of health IT. She has also held positions with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and managed the work of the Behavioral Health Data Exchange Consortium for the ONC. She is also a patient advocate and has been vocal about her mental health experiences – both as a patient and a caregiver.
